| I occasionally see extreme individuals like those above in a small area of northern Cape May County, always associate with scrub oaks. The two above were seen in different years, but probably less than a mile apart. The female was seen mating with a typically colored male. I have not seen this elsewhere (yet). The orange in the fore and hind wings is similar to Satyrium edwardsii, but other markings are like S. c. falacer. |
