on map. It is Fresnal Canyon, east of La Luz, New Mexico, along the
border of a
small stream that drains the western slope of the Sacramento Mountains,

According to A Field Guide to the Tiger Beetles, of the United States and Canada, David L. Pearson, C. Barry Knisley, and Charles Kazilek, it matches the description and illustration for Cicindela oregona maricopa. However it states that this subspecies is confined to Arizona and southeastern Utah. David L. Pearson and C. Barry Knisely confirmed the photos were C. oregona maricopa with no signs of intergradation. C. oregona gutiferra occurs on the eastern slope of the rockies, and eastern New Mexico. A significant range extension. images
